Zac Efron & Charlie Countryman pose together: Zac Efron has taken over a role that once belonged to Shia LaBeouf, it has been reported. Producer Albert Berger, according to The Playlist, has confirmed that the star of "Charlie St. Cloud" has been attached to star in the lead role in "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman".

This action comedy follows Charlie Countryman who falls in love with a girl who will probably get him killed. The fact that the girl of his dreams already belongs to an insanely violent crime boss with a gang of thugs at his disposal doesn't deter him. To woo her and keep her out of harm's way, he endures one bruising beat down after another.
Penned by Matt Drake, "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" is said to have similar feel to Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction". While Dante Ariola was once attached to direct, this movie is currently director-less. Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa of Bona Fide are serving as producers and filming is eyed to start sometime this year.
